the one i tend to go for is 'Dreams are merely shadowed truth.' - by Neil Gaiman
1. because it's true... I find it fascinating how your dreamworld represents your inner state. For examples, water symbolizes the emotions you are going through, flying signifies freedom...etc.
2. It's from Sandman by Neil Gaiman, so FUCK YEAH!!!
btw, no need to send me no emails anymore... you guys are all authors now :) In honor of Martin Luther King yesterday, I have decided this: Don't care if you are white, or asian, or half asian half whitie, we all have the rights to post!! :P
"Each new hour holds new chances for new beginnings. The horizon leans forward offering you space to place new steps of change." ― Maya Angelou
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ― Mark Twain
I really love how these words paint a picture in my mind. I heard Maya Angelou's quote sampled in a drum 'n' bass track way back and it's stuck with me for many years. I'd recite it when the going was getting tough. Likewise, I found Mark Twain's quote as the example text block for a font management software that I started using in 1997. I especially love the idea of going on in life without regard to any certainty or outcome. I try to live my life by that one, too.
"How far you go in this life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life, you will have been all of these." - George Washington Carver
When I was in college the first time, I was a Cousbeling
"You'd around da' way, mang. I know where chu' at." - DJ Muggs
A phrase that seldom leaves my conscious invokes both anticipation and redemption in the same breath. The thought that no matter what you do, your actions are being predicted and acted upon before you've even made the decision on what your action is. To feel that, around every upcoming corner is your life, regardless of which corner you choose. The only worrying plea is who may be on the other side of that corner.
Technical difficulties! Let me finish this thought -
I was a Counseling and Human Services major, and we had hoodies made with this quote on the back. I still wear it despite all its holes and frayed spots. Keep me humble -- or at least, it SHOULD --and reminds me to always put myself in someone else's shoes. You never know if someone is having the worst day of their life. And you can always, ALWAYS find something to appreciate in your own.
